Lighting

I have canaries and I have been letting them go by the sun rising and setting (no artificial light before sunrise or after sunset). My question is as we start to loose daylight is there a certain number of hours that they should have light (natural or artificial ) . In my area we can get only about 10 hours of daylight during late fall and mid winter. Is there a certain amount of hours of light they should get so they can feed more ? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

To be onest Betty it doesn't really matter, the canaries will will be fine and will eat enough during the day,

However if you intend on breeding canaries you'll ideally need around 12-14 hrs of light per day :-BD
