Zebra finch dilemma
Okay so I have a finch dilemma. Yesterday I got a male zebra finch (named Sisyphus), and he's currently living by himself. The other finch in his cage at the store was injured so the store didn't let us take him. There were also 2 zebra finches living together in another cage. So I'm not sure what to do. Obviously I need to get him a friend, but I don't know if I should wait another 2 weeks to see if the injured finch heals or if I should get a finch from the other cage. I don't know if it would be mean to separate the two finches in the other cage who seem to have bonded together?
Also, Sisyphus has been making beeping sounds that sound like this throughout the entire day nonstop: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HkY96rBa9kI Is that normal?

The meeping and the beeping is fairly normal.
Regarding a Zebra companion (I would not get a sick or injured bird). Now I know that it seems the kind hearted thing to do, but unless you are very knowledgable about treating sick and injured birds, it might be just asking for heartache.
The question you need to be asking yourself, is whether you want 2 males, 2 females, or a pair. Now unless you really want to breed (and have enough friends and family members who want Zebra finches), I wouldn't get a male and a female (they will breed like rabbits), so that's something you might want to give some thought to before chosing a friend for your bird.

Aah I forgot to reply sooner, but thank you for the advice! I ended up finding a shelter today that had just taken in several male finches, so Sisyphus now has a friend! They seem to be getting along pretty welllovezebs wrote: IsleofFlyingFinches

Perchance in honor of Maxwell's Demon?
I mean with a name like Sysiphus for your first guy, there's GOT to be a creative source for "Maxwell", LOL!

Turn towards home, and go there. Many overs, over woods and fields, streams and hills, many overs. Just turn towards home. How else would one go there? Perhaps it was a dream, and you have awakened from it. May the earth rise up beneath you, with home in your heart, and your person waiting.

How are the two going? My two Zebra finches, Beaky and Itchy squabble a lot, but they seem to love hanging out together.
Kind Regards
