removing infertile eggs

Hi All and thanks for the forum. I'm new here.
My daughters two little society finches started brooding their first eggs recently. It's their first attempt and only two eggs. It's becoming obvious that the eggs won't hatch because it has been 16 days already since she started brooding them. I'll give it more time but suspect they should have hatched by now.
I just hate the idea of going in there and raiding the nest. I feel like a predator. I'm the one who takes care, feeds and gives the birds all the attention so i'm not looking forward to being a nest raider.
Any advice for a first time bird owner?

Hi Dave, and welcome to the Forum from Canada.

Regarding the Society eggs:

I would leave them for another week. Sometimes it's difficult to say when the parents began sitting tight. If in another 7 days there is nothing, and if the parents hadn't tossed these eggs, it will be safe to remove them.

Don't worry, other eggs will soon follow :D

THANK YOU SO MUCH ELANA!!!
I sure hope they toss the eggs themselves so I won't have to 'break and enter"!
