How long should I expect to wait?

I'm hoping to get a couple of finches by around early January. My question is, how long is the usual wait to get a bird from a breeder? Should I be looking now? Will it take even longer? I know a lot of it depends on availability and timing, but I was just curious. I remember having to wait about 6 months for my first puppy.....it was torture!!

You should be able to get most Finch's at once but I think it would depend on the species have you checed for any bird fairs close to you

It really depends on what type of finch you want and what the breeders have. If they have what you're looking for, then you can get them the same day. If they just hatched, then you'll have to wait a couple of months or more.

Thanks for the replies. I'll probably be looking for either owls or gouldians.... the owls wouldn't be so hard, but I'd be a little picky with the gouldians (I want one of them to have a blue back!).....
I might check out the bird show in brampton next month if I can find someone to go with. My friends think I'm nuts!! lol

DON'T buy Gouldians until they are fully adult feathered...BIG MISTAKE.
When they are rehoused whilst first moulting they can die for no apparent reason.

yikes, thanks for the tip. Sounds like it might be a long time waiting for them then....

There were LOTS of blues available at the show 2 weeks ago... completely coloured up.
