Post by FinchLover&Breeder » Fri Jan 26, 2018 1:39 pm

If you could wait for a bird show, that's your best bet. There were many good birds at reasonable prices at the Central Florida Fairgrounds show last year.

What are your criteria for new birds? Java finches are good, though they require more room and may be pushy. Spice finches, common waxbills, goldbreasts, and owl finches also seem like nice choices, though waxbills usually require live food to breed.

2018 bird shows in/near Florida

If you don't feel like waiting for birds, there's also a small-scale bird store around Orlando that sells society finches, gouldians, and maybe a few other things. I'll have to find its website later.

Preferably finches like society and zebra. Nothing outrageously expensive.

A show would probably be best. The three I've been to all had multiple society and zebra finches of several mutations for around $7 to $10 each.

Craigslist and other online sites could also be useful, though it's better to see the birds in person to evaluate their health. If you're lucky, you can occasionally pick up zebra finches and society finches for free.

I can't seem to find the store...
