Take into account, if you rescue them (by buying them) then the person will only breed more. Before you go rescuing lots you should just buy one or two and then meet the person and talk to them and find out about their cages etc and if it really is as bad as you think then I’d contact an SPCA or something.

In the first picture they are in a pet carrier. The cup that is in there is dirty as is the floor. These birds are not the same ones shown in the cages. It looks like they are being kept in a garage or somewhere dark. It looks to me like a bad situation for these birds.

If you buy those birds, you will be rescuing those few. HOWEVER, this will free up room for that breeder to breed even more birds. It will also give the breeder the incentive to breed even more birds in extremely crowded conditions, as this is what brought in the most profit in the past.

This is how animal mills and factory farms (think Food, Inc.) work, as well. Companies breed as many animals as they can to get as much profit as possible. As a result, it is up to us, the buyers, to refuse to support inhumane breeders. This is pretty much the only way we can change these practices. Otherwise, anything goes and the conditions do not improve.

Buying those birds also puts your birds at risk. Since those birds come from poor conditions, they are more likely to carry diseases which could spread to your birds.

Most chain pet stores will not buy birds from people. I asked Pet Supermarket, and they said that they had a contract with the animal mill Sun Pet, so they wouldn't buy from anyone else. PetSmart also has a contract with Sun Pet, If I remember correctly.

Can I just ask maybe has he just not thought about how fast zebras breed maybe he got a deal for about 20 zebras and he’s just started out and then they have all bred like mad and now he’s like am over run and his aviary is crowded so he needs to sell

Or maybe his aviary could be broke or something or for some reason he can’t use it and has had to put them all their and sell then have u rang him and actually heard his voice and the way he sounds about them

That is why I don't raise birds. I don't want them to end up in a place like that. If he cared anything about those birds, they wouldn't be living in those conditions and in the dark.

Never ever BUY animals for pity. You just encourage the 'breeder' to produce more.

And, honestly, if you have a close look on some of the photographs and texts you can find in our forum, we don't have much to boast.

Thank you all for your support. I understand the danger of diseases and would be keeping them in a separate room from my current birds if I got them and I would keep a close eye on any I would get to see who is healthy and who needs medical attention or attention in general. I am not going to give him any money for the birds even if he threatens to call the cops, I'll just show them his poor living condition. I'll let you guys know if he responds and what he says.
