Where is this terrific bird sanctuary in Winnipeg you speak of? I want to see it!

Actually there are two. One is right in the city, not far from where I used to stable my horse when I lived there. I was on Shaftsbury near the Assinaboine Forest. It's on McCreary (Charleswood). It's called Fort Whyte Centre - I've never been yet, but here's their website:
Fort Whyte Alive
The other is 20 minutes drive north of Winnipeg and it's called Oak Hammock Marsh:

Can't wait to go there next visit, best time to go is fall when birds are migrating.

I was thinking something else. I've been to both those places, but I never really thought of them as such. I know there's an aviary/bird sanctuary near Steinbach called Earth Angels Aviary. It's run by my cousin's former inlaws. They are so knowledgeable about birds, and have passed all this knowledge on to my 11 year old neice, who will inherit it when they pass on. She actually taught me how to trim my canary's nails.

Ah! You were thinking more along the lines of a Bird Rescue. Sorry, when I say Sanctuary, I mean a "protected" area - no hunting.
I wasn't in to birds yet, just horses when I lived there, so don't know of any rescue places for birds (just cats, and there are a LOT of cat rescue groups in Winnipeg... - try Googling.
