Mixing with Societies

I have 6 Societies in my flight cage. I say some shafttails at PetSmart and they really take my breath away with their coloring.
Looking at the chart it seems that it might be a little risky adding 2 to my flight of societies.
Anyone with experience who would advocate either way?

On the other hand I saw a very distressed and sad looking star finch in the cage with all these others. He looked outnumbered and definitely was laying low. pretty guy.

I get really suckered into buying sad looking birds at those types of pet stores.

My Society is quite docile and mixes well with my Spice finch but I don't know about Shafttails. I hope that someone on the board can be more informative!

hi ndan
shaftails will be ok with your other birds as they have been known to hybridise with societies

My shaft-tails and societies are the best of buddies. They spend alot of time sitting next to each other, eating together, etc.
