males fighting?

I have to pairs of zebra finches. They had laid eggs and it looks like mostly form the one pair. One of the eggs hatched the other day and ever since then the male that is not the daddy is picking on the dad really bad. His face is all beat up. I dont know how ti get him to stop beating daddy up. Both parents are taking good care of baby so i dont want to disturb them. Would it be okay to seperate the second pair or should i just leave them be?

I would remove the pair that are not the parents ASAP.

I agree, remove the other pair before the aggressive male injures the dad or a chick.

My boyfriend doesnt want to seperate them now because the other nest has eggs and he is afraid they are the other pairs. I havent seen anyone go in the other nest for awhile but he has. The one male hasnt tried to mess with the baby yet. Such a hard decision.

If each pair has their own nest - then remove the second pair with the nest into a separate cage. No a hard decision at all. Being Zebs - they should go back to take care of the eggs in the new cage.

If the male is acting territorial now against the father, when the chicks fledge and if they are males he will be aggressive towards them.

I would remove the pair and nest as Liz suggests. Once they have their own place and no one else to bother they will concentrate on the nest and eggs. It isn't worth an injury or worse.

I was gonna ask what size cage you have, but if its continuous aggression, split up immediately, otherwise fatalitys are imminent :( :(
