I want to know which birds I can have in the same aviary whit the zebras?

This questions seems to get asked alot.

Zebras can be pesky and troublesome, but I have kept them with Societies without too much trouble. And I believe they would also be compatible with Spices and Shaft-tails. Any of the species that can hold their own. I wouldn't keep them with Strawberries, Cordon Bleus, or Goulds.

If you are wanting to breed your Zebs I suggest you don't house them with other birds. And limit them one pair to a cage or else have a large flight cage/aviary to keep them in.

I have had success with a "mixed" group in a flight cage. I have Zebras, a Society and a Spice together.

In getting to know the personal nature of each of my little birds I believe that when I can I will move my Spice and my Society to their own flight cage. They are definately more peaceful than the Zebras.

Make sure you have plenty of room if you decide to mix, and give them plenty to do! Having several silk plants, millet sprays, grasses and sticks to play with and at least three food and water dishes have helped with squabbles. And this is for only six finches! My Spice and Society definately like to get out of the way of my Zebras, but I will see the whole gang sitting together on their swing perch .

I keep my zebs by themselves - my other birds would just suffer if I put them all together. But, each bird has their own personality, so I'm sure in some cases they'd be just fine with other birds.

My zebs are also kept separately (except for the button in the bottom of their cage). But then, as the others have said you really need to consider personalities. My shaft tails have to be kept separate from everybody else because "play" to them means dangling the other birds. And I have a pair of spices that get along with everybody, but a young male spice that has to be placed pretty carefully - he can be a bully. So it depends on the birds.

I agree not to put them with others if you are wanting to breed. I had to separate mine from each other when they were nesting because it was a contstant fight! I now have a pair each in 2 cages & had to separate the single boys from the girls in 2 other cages because they would still fight & pluck each other. Actually, I'm not sure if the males & females that aren't paired fought because of sex issues or because it was a little too crowded. At any rate, the girls are in 1 cage & the guys in another & life is much more peaceful now!

Yes...I should mention that I don't have nests in my flight cages. If I were to consider breeding I would move the Spices and Society out for their own protection.
