Is there a limit to what you can know about a specific species of finch ??
The reason i ask is that i seem to be covering the same details no matter where i look up the information, Internet,Books etc ....
Just thought i would put it out there

I don't think you can ever really know EVERYTHING about ANY single subject, so I don't think you should limit yourself to learning about any single species of Finch, either

I too find that each site pretty much repeats the same facts. What I have done to broaden my research base is to google the actual latin name for the species. Studies in the field, research of song, habitats, etc. come up and you learn more than the captive side of that finch. Many times learning the birds wild behaviors can give you great insights into their husbandry and happiness. Happy learning

Don't get me wrong, i totally agree with you, but it just seems i'm reading the same information put into different words

....
As for behavioural info, theres nothing more than i enjoy than sitting here watching how the different species act, sometimes funny, cute and sometimes baffling lol, Not only that it keeps my 2 n half yr old daughter quiet as she just sits there in silence fascinated with them, her morning routine now consists of coming downstairs, saying hello to her little bro and sitting patiently waiting for "Birdies to wake up"

..
Must be in the blood

If anybody has any links concerning Zebbies,Society or Shafttails that they think i may like or may not of read please post it here,
much appreciated, thx

When we first got our Zebras, we too exhausted all the web sites within a short period of time. A little while after that we stumbled across forums like this one and I feel they have been a tremendous asset. Probably in the past year we've learned more about our birds than we did in the previous four combined.
Another avenue that we've exploited are the shows / marts. The wealth of knowledge collected together therein is a tremendous reservoir that's just waiting to be tapped. We usually make several laps around and will pick anyone's brain who will bother to give us the time of day.
To some degree the local bird stores / breeders have been of marginal assistance, but that's going to vary area to area. Most of the ones in our area seem to concentrate on the bigger birds, not really all that much interest in finches.
And you can never say enough for just good old fashioned trial and error. Not saying that we treat our guys like little lab rats, but we experiment with various foods, environmental conditions, and habitat pieces / parts. In effect letting them tell us what they like and what they can do without.

I guess in some respects I see what you mean, originally I thought you were asking something else ;P
Is there something specific you're looking for that you haven't found?
I feel most websites are there to offer generic information, there are a few which are really elaborate and try to tackle every thing you can think of, and others that cater to a specific subject (I feel like my website is geared towards genetics and indentify gouldian mutations in the nest).
I've thought about adding other content, but I am not sure WHAT else to add!

Too true! Expert at some things, but no one can know everything. That's why we're here, eh? to learn from those who are "expert" in areas we aren't.
