I have brought in a pair of females for my boys but the boys want nothing to do with the females they even pick on them.
my java has got really mean with the little female zebra. we have put in a wall so the two pair can be alone hoping that will help but the two males are REALLY trying to get to the same half of the cage.
the zebra pair have become close and that's good but stitch likes to sit on her in the nest and you hear this yelling coming from her.
anyone have any ideas of what i can do. how can i get them to play nice and hopeful make some pretty babies...

Re: Boy's Club
Put up a SOLID divider so the males cannot see each other. That way the only bird that they can see is the hen that you paired up for them. While they can hear the other bird, over time, not being able to see the other bird seems to help turn their attention to the bird with them.
What kind of nest did you get for the zebras.
If it is a SMALL woven finch nest, then that is the problem, you should get a LARGE woven nest, or a different type of nest. IMHO the woven nest is too small for a zebra.

Re: Boy's Club
Did you rearrange the cage at all prior to introducing the new girls? Change nests and or perches around? The boys might be protecting their homes and valuable items from these new "invaders" Generally if you switch things around and then introduce new birds it puts all birds in the cage on a level playing field. All with the same disadvantage trying to figure out the surroundings so there is less of a chance of anyone defending anything.
On a totally random and very vaguely related note, did you see that the new Dreamworks movie How to Train Your Dragon was produced by the same team that did Lilo and Stitch? Was watching a preview on TV the other day and thought that there was something about the one dragon that had an eerie sense of familiarity about it. Then I read that little tidbit about the production team in the paper a day or two later and it hit me that he was reminiscent of Stitch.
Okay back on point, sorry bout the momentary distraction. Hope you're able to sort it out and get the babies you desire. Please keep us up to date on their progress.

Re: Boy's Club
the divider is solid it's a part of a cardboard box. but still they try it's really sad...
as for the nest yes it's a small woven i thought it be fine cuz my java Lelo and stitch the zebra used to share a small one. and as soon as i put in the small one they tried stole the little nest. lol but i will get a lager one today
the cage is changed. the day a brought the girls home i did a good cage cleaning and let them all fly around the bathroom.
as for how to train your dragon yep i saw and loved it! i don't really like dreamworks movies so i was happy that i liked this one.
yes they did look a bit alike but that's pretty much the norm for cartoons and such.
