in my opinion it looks better if the test said "like" as for post not "like" as for the authors. I believe I have seen comment form several members in this regards.
So let me ask all of you who wanted a "like" button functionality for the forum (as well as those of you who thought the site was fine without it), would the "like" feature on this site be more useful/fun if:
1) It wasn't associated with a 'ratings' feature but simply listed the users who 'liked' a given post the way facebook does?
2) Changed the wording of the likes system so on the post it displays "like this post" and not "like this author"?
3) Removed the links to the "Most Liked" & "Everyone's Likes" that's on the site of this forum under "The Team" link?

Because if so, those changes shouldn't be too difficult to implement after I've finished getting the birthdays fiasco solved.

I'd rather not have any "like" button. We are making our comments known in our posts. That type of a button can create other issues. IMHO.

The problem with the birthdays & age should be fixed. All aspects of the forum which use the birthday function will now respect whatever privacy functions you have set in your profile :-) If you find one that isn't cooperating - report it immediately!

Required birthday turned back on for COPPA purposes in the knowledge that only the information you chose to be displayed will show up.

Thank you so much Crystal and moderators for all the hard work you put into this forum, that's why it's the best around! :D
As far as the like button, I too would prefer to not have one but if we do, I'd like it to be just a "like the post" with no rating.
The biggest drawback to the like button is that everyone might start just liking posts and not follow up with a post of their own with additional comments.
Thanks again!

I like the thumbs up button but wonder if it could read as:
Thanks for posting that info!

I could go either way with the ratings - nice but not absolutely necessary.

I can't imagine people posting less just because they 'thanked' someone else for posting..

I think if you liked a post enough you would also comment on it!

What I was thinking, there are many posts that just say "I agree" or "well said". If you have a like button there would be no reason to post "I agree" or "well said" and follow up with additional comments while your posting. How many times do you just hit the like button on facebook and leave it go without making a comment.

I can go either way with the like button. I would probably not use it, but that's just me. I'm not exactly up on all the computer stuff--no tweets, no texting, no Facebook info, no iPhone--I'm stuck in the 20th century!

What I think would be SO much nicer for all of us on the forum would be an automatic resizing of our pictures when they are uploaded so we don't have to do it ourselves. :D

I don't have an issue with resizing photos but I thought there was a new program installed now - something to simplify doing it for those who can't or aren't sure how to resize, as lately I've seen photos uploaded and they have a black bar above them saying "resized....".

Your photo file still needs to be less then 256KB. I also notice when you click on a photo 2 pictures appear, one in a pop-up and one kind of over-laying the post (not sure what to call that).
It would just be handier to just upload from our files without the extra step of resizing then uploading. Would also eliminate all the posts on how to resize photos

I just uploaded the photo in the post above. The photo is 46277 bytes and measures 3072 x 2304 pixels. I did not have to resize it beforehand.

Hmmm, Liz your photo looks like the old format, but I've noticed that many of the newer photos do have that 'resized' comment at the top of them. I set my camera to take pictures that are a size that is acceptable to the forum, so when I upload, they are the right size already, so I've never run into the problem of having to resize them. I have no experience with having to fiddle with my photos to get them to the right size for this forum, so can't offer any advice.

Wow, I just read your last post, and that photo was huge to begin with, yet you didn't have to resize? Awesome. I wonder why Debbie is still having to resize photos. I also don't see the two pictures that Debbie sees, with one sort of overlaying the post, I just see one photo.

You're right Sally. I don't see any black bar around it at all.

Since I resize all my photos for my website - it's second nature now and I don't even think about it.
