Responding To Posts and Tagging Members

Post by lovezebs » Thu Apr 02, 2015 12:42 am

Hello to All.

I have noticed, that a lot of Members don't seem to be aware of the feature where you can tag the Member whose Post you are responding to.

When you tag the person, they get a notice, that lets them know that someone responded to their Post. If you don't tag them, they may not realize that you responded, especially if several people had written a response.

Tagging people is very easy.
After you have read a Post to which you wish to respond, go down to the bottom of the page, left hand corner, and tap the little box to the left of 'profile'. The name of the person you are tagging, will appear at the top of the page you will be typing on, and the person will be notified, that you have resonded to their Post.

I just click "view unread posts" at the top of the page, that way I see all the new posts whether I'm tagged or not  And I also turned that features notification off in my settings so my phone didn't keep going off :D

I too like the 'View New Posts' feature, as it lets me see at a glance those posts that have been made since my last visit. For those who haven't used it, it is just under the current date at the top right of the page.

Hi Debbie.

My phone has never gone off, when I've been tagged. I didn't even know it could do that (which would be annoying). When I log on the Forum, I just have a little notification on the upper left corner, which shows me a number of how many people have tagged me, and those are the posts that I usually respond to first.

Sally

Hi Sally.

I use the 'active posts' most of the time, but have sometimes missed responses from people, if things have moved downwards, and If there'd been several responses that go into a 2nd or 3rd page . What happens (unless I'm tagged) is that I'll go to the last page usually and read those responses, at times missing a response that was on a previous page.

I should try the 'new posts' or 'unread posts', and see if that works better for me. But I still find the 'tag'"feature, more convenient :-).

It was sending me an email notification "you have been mentioned" which would then go to my phone. When you just tagged me I got nothing...no pop up and nothing on the left side. I don't think I've ever gotten anything on the left side though till I turned it off I did get both, a pop-up when I signed on and an email.

With the unread posts feature it will list every post you personally have not read.

Sometimes I click on "view your posts" on the top right or "view your topics" and I can see if there were any responses to my post.

If one adds a post to a topic, you will get a notification of that in your e-mail.....in other words, any time someone replies to a post that you have posted to, you will get a e-mail notice.
What I find very annoying is when someone uses your forum name in the post.......maybe that is tagging, I don't know......but then you get TWO notification posts in your e-mail box.....one that a reply was made to the topic, and one that you have been mentioned....
very annoying. Is there any way this can be prevented :?:

Dolly,
Go to "user control panel" click "Board preferences" there you will find all the settings to turn on and off the notifications for different events.

A thousand thanks Debbie. I had a bunch of stuff marked, but now I added 'no' to 'notify mention of a post'. I hope that does it :D :D :D :D
