Icons beside a post

What are the icons on the side of the post? It seems to be a bell some are just an online of the bell some are filled in and some have a black dot on the Bell. What do they indicate? 
A colored bell means there are unread posts in this topic. Non colored bell means there are no unread posts in this topic. A dot means you have commented in this topic.
