Photos won't upload in correct orientation

Hi--

Ever since I upgraded my computer to Windows 10, I can't seem to get my images to upload in the correct format (landscape vs portrait). I've tried rotating them the opposite way before uploading too, but they still always come out sideways.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

delray Do you have any idea why this is happening? I would think that others have uploaded photos from Windows 10 without problem.

Sally GouldieFledge I am going to look into this for you.. I am an Apple user, but I believe that the concept is similar. There are many programs that can do the rotating for you if you are interested.. What Cell Phone do you have? Whenever I have computer uploading trouble, I use my phone to rotate the photo. Sometimes all it takes is for you to rotate back and forth for it to work. Let me know if you have any questions.

delray, Sally

Thank you for trying to resolve this for me. I'm a PC person; I take the photos on my Android phone, them normally transfer them into my "birds" folder on my desktop and upload from there. I'm decently tech-savvy, but I can't figure this one out. I've tried to rotate on my phone and on my computer back and forth and it did not help, they always seem to come out in a landscape format. And my phone specifically is a Sony Xperia Z3.

I'm going to try playing around again. Is it okay to post some "testing" images here?

GouldieFledge Yes you can test out here. That's what we are here for. One thing to try is on your cell phone, when you go to edit and rotate the photo, manually turn your phone in the direction you want. The picture should turn... This almost always works on my iPhone. If not i can set you up with some photo editing programs such as www.photobucket.com

Hmm, interesting. It seems that even though they are in the correct format in my bird folder, in order for them to upload correctly, I have to "edit" them by spinning them around again and saving from there, via this new win10 photo viewer/editor. I think it is related to the upgrade, because I never had that issue prior. Maybe my phone is causing the issue w/Window photo viewer?

I don't think I'll ever know for sure, but at least I figured out how I can work around it...

GouldieFledge I'm glad you figured it out. Sometimes all it takes is editing it even though it looks correct. Technology has a mind of its own lol. Great photos by the way.

The Win10 photo viewer sucks.

I went and found the old viewer and installed that on my son's Win10 computer and solved THAT problem. At that time there actually wasn't a Win10 photo viewer - they were offering to sell him an "app" to do the same thing the old free viewer did.

I also went in and shut off all the crap that was trying to sell him new apps. Ads on my computer - DON'T WANT.

I refused to downgrade to Win10. When the security updates for Win7 finally stop coming, I'll be switching to some version of Linux.
