There are several niche groups and forums that have Discord servers; I was wondering if this site was one of them. Messaging apps like that are a different experience than using more forum-based sites, but that might be good for some stuff.

If there's not then we should make one. I would join immediately.

Maybe you could educate those of us who are not tuned into that sort of internet activity. I don't text or facebook etc. I presume it is some sort of texting platform. Odd name- discord???- we have too much of that around us so I wonder how they arrived at that name.

Discord is kind of like social media. You can create different groups, find friends, and message people. It's not easy to explain discord. Here is Google's answer:

Discord is a proprietary freeware voice-over-Internet Protocol application designed for video gaming communities, that specializes in text, image, video and audio communication between users in a chat channel. Discord runs on Windows, macOS, Android, iOS, Linux, and in web browsers.

It's not only for video games, it works for everything but is mainly about gaming.

Ah, true. A server like that is much more suited for casual communication than more informative stuff like this forum handles, but I guess there would be some people that would still try to use a Discord server exclusively.

Discord is effectively an online chat room platform where you can communicate instantly, compared to a forum, where communication is quite delayed but also archived indefinitely and so can be viewed again at a later time.

Discord is about gaming, so maybe that's why. I have Discord, so maybe I can make one and send you guys the link?
