Post by bonnies_gouldians » Fri Dec 19, 2008 9:14 pm

I have been trying to compress photos for a couple of hours now. I tried cropping in on the photo, compressing the photo, and resizing it manually. I zoomed in really close on the photo when cropping it, I wanted to use the entire thing, but instead I tried just the head, no go. I used microsoft picture editor. Even when it said the image was 100x82 pixels, it was still 14 KB...any thoughts??? I tried using an online program too through photobucket...blast...

I used www.flickr.com
Registered and uploaded the photo I wanted.
Selected the photo I wanted to use.
Clicked on "All Sizes" in the menu above the photo.
Selected Square from the available sizes since it is the smallest.
Then I copied the photo's URL and pasted it into the "Upload Avatar from URL place under the Profile page.
Then selected Submit.

My computer said my Square picture was 8 KB but it uploaded anyway.

Aw thanks Donna. I only know how to create avatars using Photoshop Elements - I don't know how to do it using any other 'outside' software though.

I love the home photos being used for avatars - they all look great!

Since I just posted a link to this question I figured I would add how to post a picture within a message.

I used www.flickr.com
Registered and uploaded the photo I wanted.
Selected the photo I wanted to use.
Clicked on "All Sizes" in the menu above the photo.
Selected Medium from the available sizes.
Then I copied the photo's URL (Found under the picture where it says "Grab the photo's URL")
Clicked Img in the forum where you type your message
Pasted the URL into the message
Clicked Img again
Note: you want on the right
Then selected Submit.
