Gould genetics charts

Post by Meagan83 » Thu Nov 12, 2009 1:06 pm

The gouldian genetics charts for Body color, head color and chest color are wonderful. I just wanted to say kudos for whoever did the research and pulled that together. I am just getting into breeding these birds and did not know how complex this all was. I found that section very helpful in determining some of my outcomes. Thanks again!

Aren't they great?! Crystal did a wonderful job. When Carlos Matos created his gouldian genetics software he used her images (with permission, of course!).

I was wondering if there could be some clarification made in the section on "Silvers". We have been having quite a discussion about them on another group and this site has been referred to as the reference for one side of that discussion. There is no mention here of the difference between a true Silver (BH-WB-DFBB DFYB) versus a visually silver (BH-WB-SFBB DFYB). The second bird is genetically identical to a Pastel for body color, but appears silver except for the blue ring around the head. This has been the source of great confusion for folks who are new to Gouldians. They may buy a bird that is sold to them as a Silver becuase of how it looks, then end up with unexpected offspring.....

I think you mean a BH.WB.SFYb DFBb or SFYellowBlue
