Outbox for PM's

Post by L in Ontario » Sun Nov 29, 2009 7:58 pm

Can anyone tell me how long does a personal or private message sit in the "outbox"? I sent a PM this morning at 11:30am and it is still sitting in my outbox now at 7pm... does that mean it has not been sent yet? I'm waiting for a reply but if the other person hasn't even received it yet...

Thanks!
Liz

I was just going to say that I think the PM sits in your Outbox until the person you are sending it to logs on to the forum--then it is sent to them. But that doesn't make sense either. I have mine set to get an email from admin at the finchforum when a PM has been sent to me, so then I can log on and read the PM. So then the PM has been sent to me before I log on. Have I thoroughly confused you now with my non-answer?

No you didn't confuse me - want to try again? I actually did understand as I have mine set to notifiy me of any PM's only when I log on to the Finch Forum which is several times a day... so I guess I'm still searching for an answer on this.

Liz, I beleive it stays in your outbox until the other person "opens" the message. :D

That makes sense, Janine; and would explain why I have not had a reply. Thank you!

Janine is correct, the pm does sit in your outbox until the recipient opens it
Addicted to Finches, yes I do admit it.

Liz,
I've had a message in my outbox for almost 6 months now. Apparently the initial message was sent by a "casual" member who found an answer to his question elsewhere and never bothered to log back in afterwards.
