I noticed a couple members with small pics in their signature. Mind sharing how you've done this?

Actually Dominic, on your signature line insert the image by using copy/paste, afterwards use the Img to the right of the word message body.

Can I just copy and paste those small bird heads from finchbreederdatabase to use them in my signature? Do they have any copyrights? I can see that many users have them, it looks nice.

Yes you can, I'm the owner of finchbreederdatabase website and all except several icons created by me. However, my site has a signature generator that makes it easy to create and change icons in your signature. You can select the size of your signature image, background, move icons around and have access to over three hundred icons with different mutations and sexes.

First you need to create a record for each bird. Maybe HELP section can help you and I can answer the rest of your questions.

It would be nice if that could be made a sticky post under site related so new members can see it.
