Gouldian song is catchy!

Post by kittani79 » Fri Nov 16, 2007 2:05 pm

Just something kinda funny I thought I'd share with you all...

My gouldian has lately been singing his heart out to his female, hopping up and down etc, trying so hard to get her attention. She completely ignores him so far (she is finishing her molt, I suspect they are itchy and irritable and not too interested in breeding then)...

But my cockatiel has been paying attention, because the other day we heard a strange new song from him! He's trying to do the gouldian song! He can't quite get it but he tries so hard. We hear him doing his quiet little chirp-chirp-warble-chirp over and over and then he gets too loud, stops, and tries again.

It's hilarious.

My male gouldian dances and sings his heart out to everyone in the aviary! It is hilarious how they try so hard, and no one gives them the time of day!

Ok, have to add to this one. I just put a pair back together that have always liked each other. He starts bouncing up and down, but instead of singing just makes that little "pillow talk" sound the males make when they're trying to entice the females to join them in the nest. Skipping courtship, and getting right down to dirty talk!

We have experienced the same thing mimic with our Tango our Love Bird. He tries so hard some to mimic the song and dance. It's a riot when he hops and head shakes.
