I couldnt resist. a friend had a young paair of unbonded/unrelated yellow stars that were surplus to his needs. so as you do, I took them home, $40 for the pair. within minutes of being let into the aviary (no quarantine time needed, as they had been apart from other birds for a month already) they had found the seed dish and the mealworms.
also went to the plant nursery and bought 3 climbers for the back wall of the aviary. they are meant to be fast growing so hopefully in a few months the bare back wall will have some cover for the birds. also got a thornless blackberry which I planted so that it will grow up over the bamboo plant. am hoping this will attract some insects into the aviary as the red billed firefinches hunt down any insect that enters the cage - they love mosquito's and small moths.
no pics though until the plants start to grow. will do some before and after shots then
had to do it........

Well good for you! I don't think you could go wrong with stars ever.
I am sure they just love their new home!
