Re: Orlando Bird Show New Birds
I think you are right...the prices have fallen (one of the reasons I hold my owls back, so little of them were seen before, market got flooded due to so many breeders working with them) I saw them for $30 each, a decline of at least $50 in value compared to years ago.
The fairs years ago where filled with so much of a variety, it slacked off...not sure if it was the demand was met or the economy or both. Now with new breeders, new bloodlines being offered we are starting to see more of a variety again.
Orlando is always busy especially through the morning and early afternoon. I missed this show, almost went but was home recovering from surgery. I am hoping to be able to do the October show or at least go depending on my stock at the time. You certainly made out well. Keep working with those hard to find species!!!!
On another note were you able to find out anything about the fertility program at the zoo or college? I see our (avian) vet soon for the dogs check ups, I will ask her for you...if she knows about a program or where to go I will pm you here or facebook.

I am really shocked at that price, that is practically giving them away. Since this is the only CB species that is still readily available, I would think it would command a better price.Paradise Aviary wrote: henrietta the red cheeks were selling for $50 a pair very cheap

Just amazed at how little you saw of them and anyone that had them at shows yrs ago sold out within the first hour. Then there were so many and now the price is dropped. Now they are barely seen at the shows.

I have seen them advertised for 30 each sometimes 40. Omar usually does not come down to much but still is very fair about the price, he has some lovely Birds!! That was a good price that you got!

Re: Orlando Bird Show New Birds
Anita brought me home 2 (hopefully!!) male Owls. I have heard the tell-tale "dolphin cackle" from at least one of them.
And, I got one of Javier's lovely cages for one of my canaries. It's on the piano, looks gorgeous, and he sings along when my son plays.
