Thanks everyone. I'm still crying tonight. I really don't know if I can handle raising zebra finches any longer I might not be cut out did this. I feel confused as to all the senerios and such. Lucy was such a great mom / hen. I don't want to revisit something like this ever again. I'm so sad. Never knew a little CFW hen could wreck my heart

I am so sorry for you and Lucy. What a tragic scene. I sold my zebras because of the fighting even though I loved them, I just couldn't handle all the worrying about one of them getting hurt. Others on the forum are able to keep their zebras without too much problems, but they aren't for everyone. RIP Lucy! [-o< [-o<

Nerien I am so distraught over this. I have no clue. It's making me sick. Literally sick. You can see the pics if you want. Very sad
I do know what you are feeling, I don't need to see the pics, I have my own forever in my head. I found the same situation with my beautiful big white fluffy English budgie Snowflake when he died while I was out for just a short while. I washed him clean before wrapping him up so that when the kids came home and we went to bury him under the trees on the back hill with our other passed pets, they wouldn't see what had happened to him, he would look beautiful again. I do know. And I am so sorry that you have gone through this, too. There isn't a proper word for how awful it is.

Hi Nanajennie,

I am so sorry for your loss. Birds unfortunately can be especially aggressive to each other. I keep my 3 birds in all separate cages because my canary is such a bully (at times!). I've caught him pecking and biting the legs of the smaller ones, and only let them out when supervised. I hope your little Woodstock is OK. She seemed like a cutie.

Zebrafincher Thank you. Things are not the same in my bird room now. I rarely go in there, and I don't even want to look at the juveniles that killed her. I am still numb that I had to do what I did to put her out of her misery.

Birds drive us crazy! We love them, and they are tiniest, most frail looking creatures on God's earth, and they are full of energy, bickering, naughtiness, and sheer joy!!!
