Nerien I really appreciate it!! It means the world to me.. I really hope it doesn't have to come to that but I really do appreciate it!!! I read the PM and will certainly take your advice. It's so hard to think straight when I am so stressed!!

@"30 Seconds to Bob" he certainly isn't smart at all!!! I will explain further below.. and this gets stupid!

@wildbird@Sally I am definitely looking into my rights as far as landlord/tenant stuff goes INCLUDING illegal apartments as well as some kind if temporary aid or assistance!

But anyway as I mentioned the weirdness continues! So me and the boyfriend were home and Mr. Landlord calls and asks my boyfriend to go over to the window and move the aloe plant. Apparently he is outside. My boyfriend then goes outside and calls me and tells me to open the blinds.. which I do.. and I move the lights around a bit with my hand to show they are casting shadows. And as I am doing this I see across from me... the ex-cops wife standing there in the window of her house... literally directly across from me.. with her lights on clearly visible and OBVIOUSLY making her presence known. So.. they must have called him and told him "the plants were back" and he came over to see what they were talking about... and having been up here asked us to do what we did. So clearly... if you see the shadows.. and they literally vaporize and vanish into thin air as I pull the blinds up and you see me standing there... unless I am David Blaine... I have just proven you stupid. I guess we will see what comes of this. But I am absolutely NOT getting rid of or turning off the lights that I have on for my babies. There have been NO night frights since. All because of a strand of Christmas lights with wicker balls surrounding the bulbs. I will take a picture of this an upload it to show everyone what it looks like and what I mean... and I also intend to take a look at it while I am outside when its not like -500 degrees!

What a sad situation! I hope you find a solution to this, fhgwgads. Some people really are just strange (ie your rental landlord). There are so many good people who are made to feel terrible by the owners of retnal properties. I'm sure there are good rental agents, but the stories I've heard about bad ones really tend to outnumber the good ones.

Bless you, Nerien, for offering to take the 6 finches.

Good luck.

chirpy haven't heard anything since the other day when my landlord came by and had me open the blinds. I am still just blown away and mostly insulted over the whole situation. Especially since when I was opening the blinds the neighbor was standing right across from me in her window watching me as if she was going to catch me standing among a forest of weed. I really hope they feel like absolute idiots.. yet from my experience with people like that they probably still think I am doing something wrong. It's so ridiculous. I have had those lights hanging on my window since I moved in and only started using them about a month ago. They were always there basically because they could be.. and they are decorative and look good.. but now with my babies they have a purpose. After my boyfriend had spoken to the landlord that night the only thing he said was that he's selling the place in March.. so I am assuming that means we have until sometime before that. It was just a huge, really stupid situation. It's funny too because a few days before this all happened a friend of mine that I hadn't seen in a very long time had come by to pick me up around 10pm and we went out to eat. We got back around 1am and he parked and we sat in the car talking for a bit before he left. As we were doing so the neighbor on the other side of me pulled up and as she was pulling in her driveway she slowed down and outright started into the car. She then continued to stare over at us as she was getting out of her car and getting her daughter out of the back seat and as she was going in the house. They act like if I am up late, or if I go out late with friends, or if friends of mine pull up by my house or stop by for a moment or drop something off that automatically it means I am dealing drugs. As far as I knew I am allowed to come and go from my apartment as frequently or infrequently as I like at any hour I choose. Especially since I don't make a lot of noise or disturb people at night. I also took a picture of the lights I have hanging up and the shadows that according to the neighbors look like a whole forest of pot plants!

Only those plants look NOTHING like marijuana plants do. Wrong growth pattern, wrong leaves, wrong everything.

(Former botanist here. Way back in grad school, a young couple in the department invited all the grad students over to their new house for dinner. Gave us all a tour of the house. Including the big, double-wide closet in the spare bedroom that just GLOWED from the intense lights hanging from the clothes bar. The entire closet was packed with leafy green plants, at that point about 5 feet tall. They bragged about having come up with the perfect fertilizer mix and all. Were also so stupid they didn't keep the curtains in the room closed, so all their neighbors, in a quiet, family-type residential neighborhood, could see an empty bedroom with a glowing closet (shutter doors on the closet). First and last time I went to their house or did anything social with them. They barely knew me or a few of the other new students, and they show off their grow room, as well as let the whole neighborhood see it through the window? And then they'd claim pot had no bad effects on them, their functioning, or their judgement. Um, yah, sure. geez.)

BUT it does look like it could be plants, we're not all botanist and I wouldn't expect a shadow to be conclusive to which species of plant. :)

The ridiculous thing is that they would jump to conclusions from seeing SHADOWS of plants, which cannot be identified. I am so thankful I have good neighbors, you hear horror stories about problems with bad ones.

Sally that is exactly how I feel. Even if you thought it looked like plants.. even more specifically pot... I would NEVER just run and accuse someone like that! Especially if I was a cop. Don't cops know that people are innocent until proven guilty? Looking at vague shadows through the window is NOT conclusive evidence.

I am brand new and sorry to see such a desperate situation on my first visit...I agree with those who recommend you find temporary housing for your birds. I know all of our hearts are breaking for you. My husband & I had a Christmas like this once. A neighbor (out of spite) sent the city to fine us for no tag on our car. We had to empty our garage and put the car in it or pay a fine! Then I got a judgment delivered the week of Christmas! You will survive and seems like there are wonderful people on here willing to help if they can. I would definitely look for another place to live, this will not end until this landlord puts you out for one reason or another. Don't stress, now is the time to think clearly and make plans. So sorry to hear about your mother's illness as well.
