Some of my flock

Post by Finnie » Wed Dec 18, 2013 9:00 pm

I did some rearranging of cage assignments, now that my birds from Texas have finished quarantine. So then I took the opportunity to take a ton of photos and I thought I would post some of my favorite ones on here.

I'll start with some of the Gouldians. The yellow headed one is Pete, the father, and the others are his chicks. I ended up keeping 5 of the 9. The only one that I've named so far is Cotton Candy, the white one. I named her that because I'm going to pair her up with Candy Corn, the male I got from Su Yin. His photos will be farther down.

Next are my yellow face star finches. There is a male, Pee Wee, and two females, Pip and Squeak.

Pip is a fawn mutation star finch.

Woodsy and Fern, the parents of the chick that the societies raised:

This is Jewel, a pearl grey chocolate society hen.

Next up are my original pied societies that started my whole finch "problem":

Harold Finch is the fawn in front, and Medium is the chocolate behind him.

This is Large:

And this is Small (on the perch):

They were named for the amounts of white on them. It was an easy way to tell them apart when there were only three of them.

The bird on the wire underneath Small is Toasted Almond. She's the dilute fawn self I got from Su's friend Helen.

More coming.

OMG this signature is so outdated! Make that 50 chickens!

Next is kind of my odds and ends cage. It has an owl, a gouldian and two societies. They are ones that either don't have mates, or haven't been introduced to their mates yet.

Image
That's Small, again, on the upper perch, and Owloween and Candy Corn on the lower level.

Almond again. Su said she is actually a clearwing, which is a type of dilute.

One last cage has a pair of normal owls, Hoot and Annie, and a pair of societies, Fudgecicle and Toasted Marshmallow.

This is Hoot. I guess Annie's photo didn't make the final cut.
Image

Toasted Marshmallow is a creamino hen.

Fudgecicle is a pearl grey chocolate self. He came as a pair with Jewel, but I am going to switch them to other mates so that I can get two sets of unrelated chicks that are all split to pearl and to grey.

And finally, Pixel cannot be ignored. He always wants attention, and he gets right into the camera :D

Thank you very much, everyone! :D

I wish I had though of taking photos of the cages from farther back. I spent all my time trying to get the lens between the wires, lol!

No time to take more now, as we are leaving in three days to go to Colorado for Christmas. It is crunch time, with so much to do to get ready to leave, and to have all the supplies and things ready for the pet sitter. She came by yesterday for a run-through, and I realized I have a million things to set out and label for her.

(Not to mention finishing my shopping and wrapping and packing and on and on...)

I probably should not be on the forum right now.
