That's a great idea about checking at night if he came to roost. Maybe leave the female out at dusk. Not sure how my husband would do the door thing you're talking about unless he sat out there for hours. It's not so easy as that. He works crazy hours, has the large garden to plant, livestock, birds...meaning turkeys, chickens, etc. to tend to, etc. on the weekend. He's not the bird fan I am so he's willing to do...minimal. Especially because there are billions of mosquitoes so just sitting out there...for hours on end...which also makes leaving the door open a problem as well as the dog would just love to escape just as the bird did. We'll catch him. We just have to think like a bird. Thanks wildbird and MiaCarter.
