Smurf
So you think these two gentelmen should be the bridegrooms to my two pretty ladies? It is a possibly in the future, when our two lads aren't busy raising Gouldian pigletts. :-D

Very pretty girl indeed, lovezebs. What I'm most fascinated by is their temperaments and weird social behavior, particularly their relative readiness to co-nest and foster other chicks.

Funny that you called me a zebra man. That made me laugh out loud. Truth is, I go through phases. I started with canaries, then passerines, then zebras, then canaries again, then got into conures parrots, and now I'm back to zebras (they're just so darn cute, colors aside). I think next will be canaries, and after that back to parrots - I REALLY want a B&G macaw (the preference changes as a function of whim and life situation - right now zebs are most convenient for condo).

Thanks Sam.
Although I wouldn't call my Gimpy, pretty to his face. He might take offence to that. He thinks he is brave and dashing and handsome, even if he does have a twisted little foot.

Societies have really taken to heart the saying, 'that it takes a whole village to raise a child,' (as long as the village consists of only Socies). They just love baby eggs and the baby birds that pop out of them. I suppose it is rather unusual behaviour, but there you have it.

My guys feed those babies so much that sometimes I worry they're going to burst.

I know that life and circumstances change our capabilities of looking after birds.
I started as a kid with budgies, then went into canaries, then into waxbills, back to canaries, then lovebirds, then Canary, and now.... now I have an army if birds and growing babies. It's almost scary, isn't it?
