Unlikely looking bird
I found a picture of this bird at Birddiary at Monacoeye.com
It is a pretty bird, but the colour combination is strange.

monotwine Yes, it is stunning. When I looked at the yellow / green body, I expected the the head to be red. If you look at the 3rd picture, it is almost as the head is camouflaged and difficult to see.

I suppose, that I am in Parrotfinch mode, and expect brightly coloured heads.

Yeah, reminds me a little of a pearl-headed silverbill, just a lot prettier. Watch out for the sudden storms. My wife is outside mowing the lawn. This is the first time in 24 years of marriage, that she is doing something in the garden! It might even snow!
Maybe the broken leg should stay broken for a while, she might even develop more skills.

Like shovelling the snow that might be coming, eh??? tsk tsk tsk
Poor wifey....
By the way, that bird is interesting indeed, although the head looks sort of unfinished , lol.

lovezebs Snow would be very interesting. We have never had snow where I live. If snow were to fall, I am sure that everybody would be outside, looking like idiots.

LOL..... if snow was to come, I'd stay off of it if I were you. It tends to be slippery, and some of us older folks, are not as steady on our feet as we used to be, ahem.....
Now to get back to the interesting bird, is it a native to South Africa? I don't think I have ever seen even a picture of this one before.

lovezebs. Nope, you get this bird in Gambia, West Africa. It is on the other side of the equator. This small country is completely surrounded by Senegal, except for a small coastal strip.

Thanks for mentioning Gambia Marius.
I just had a virtual birding trip on the internet, enjoying the birds of Gambia. They have some lovely birdlings over there
