First Orange-cheeks of the season

Post by Rox » Tue Jan 12, 2016 1:05 pm

3 beautiful babies fledged over the weekend :) They are definitely still the cutest of the lot :D It's like holding a butterfly in your hand when you are busy putting rings on. They are just so tiny!

Rox This is great! Hope you are walking around with a big stupid smile on your face. The people at work should ask you if you won the lotto. Three OC's and one P twinspot! =D> Is this the same pair that bred last year?

Adorable babies as always, Roxanne.
I absolutely love the picture of the parent feeding the baby :-).

Congratulations.

MariusStegmann This same pair gave me two clutches last year, a total of 6 chicks. This clutch also fledged a month earlier than their first clutch of 2015, so hopefully they will fit in 3 clutches this season, instead of 2. The parents are way more settled this time round and no where near as nervous about their chicks as they were last year. I now have 3 bonded pairs in that aviary, of which 2 pairs gave me chicks last year. They are all attacking the mealworms at the moment, so I'm holding thumbs for some more clutches soon. It's quite easy to see when the OC's have chicks. They completely ignore the mealworms and then all of a sudden, they become a bunch of little pigs, stuffing their faces

Thanks so much everyone!! It's an incredibly rewarding feeling to get chicks two years in a row :D

Congratulations and might I add how jealous I am. I never got my OCW to do anything but build nests. Those babies are just darling.
