New societies

Post by kyle » Sat Jan 09, 2016 2:45 pm

Hello everyone. It's been a little while since I've posted. As my Gouldians are still not in a breeding frame of mind I decided to get a pair of society's to add to the flock. Such a zest for life they have. They may be common finches but great all around personalities! Of course I wanted to get a male-female pair but ended up getting two boys. After discovering they were both males I went out and got a third which I think now is a boy as well. They have added a little excitement here and a little more noise. LOL. I'll wait a week or two to be sure they're all boys and if that's the case I probably will try and get a female later on. One of the things I love most about the societies is they take advantage of all the little things. I put in egg food and they are all over it. I put in the bath and there is water everywhere! I bought all three from different pet shops to be sure none were related and of course they were all in tiny cages. My three pairs Of goulds are each in their own breeding cages so I had my big FO30 flight empty. When I put three societies in the flight cage I think they lost their mind with all the space! LOL. I think it was a great decision to get them they are totally enjoying their new life but really the pleasure is all mine!

Hi guy, and welcome back :-).

I bet your saucy little Socies, were very happy in a large flight.
Probably doing the happy dance and singing Oh Happy Day.....

Males will puff up like little feathered pears, and sing. Females make little cricket sounds and don't do the song and dance routine.

Your three newbies are real cuties. Give them a nest, and watch them get really excited :-).

Enjoy them.
