Hey all,
I am going to trade some Zebra babies for a pair of Javas. The question is in which flight to put them? Both are 32w X 21d X 35 h. The first has about a dozen Societies that all go into three nests at night - one being the clown nest and then two with a pair a piece ( for right now. They usually are in two nests, but the three are active with young right now). I have 5 to six medium bamboo nests in this flight at any one time. The second is the same measurements with three Gouldians, two diamond doves, a pair of Silver Bills and a female Shafttail. This has two box nests and a wide front plastic nest in it. I would put another box nest in it should I use this one.
I know that the Finch Center lists the Javas as aggressive, but from reading the info, it's because of the size of the Javas, not the nature of them. And I have had Javas in a mixed aviary with Societies and Zebras before without issue.
I'm leaning to the Society flight once all the young are fledged and on seed when I will separate them out of the flight. I know that it's a bit much for one flight, but the Societies are social and nest all together. Any suggestions?
Where to put them?
