The Fort Worth Bird Club will be putting on its annual all-bird show this coming weekend, September 17, at the Cleburne Conference Center. If anyone would like to borrow cages to show in the Finch Division, I have plenty of extra cages. You could bring your birds to the Cleburne Conference Center Saturday morning and transfer them in a small room they provide for us. At the end of the day, they would be transferred back to their travel cages. I need to know if anyone wants to do this and how many cages no later than Wednesday evening so I have time to prepare the cages. I will be at the Conference Center Friday evening also, between 5:30pm and 7:30pm, as we have to get the hall ready for the show, so you could bring your birds then.
Entries are accepted Friday night between 5:30pm and 7:30pm, or Saturday morning between 7:30am and 8:30am, with judging beginning around 9am. You would need to arrive early Saturday morning, so there would be time for someone to show you how to fill out show tags and entry forms. I can't promise I can do that, as I will be busy. As secretary for the Finch Division, I have to enter all the birds from the entry forms into my show sheets, and I need to pay attention to what I am doing, so I don't enter a bird into the wrong class.
So if you want to try your hand at showing, just post an answer here or send me a PM.

Re: Want to Show Birds in Cleburne, TX?
We had a very successful show yesterday, but we didn't have a single novice exhibitor in the Finch division. To be a novice, the exhibitor can't have placed three times already on Top Ten bench, and all the exhibitors at our show have placed many times.
So, we had a beautiful plaque ready to present to a novice. I had show cages ready, all anyone had to do was show up with a bird, place it in one of my show cages, and they would have automatically won that lovely plaque. What a waste.

Sally
I absolutely agree with you Sally,
We have exactly the same problem here in England at times, I think a lot of it all boils down to lack of confidence and not really understanding the exhibition scene,
To all beginners and novices there really is nothing to worry about,
We all have to start somewhere and to be onest over the last few years I've noticed that some novice birds are actually better than some of the champions birds,
If there is anyone reading this and needs to know more about exhibitions and exhibiting there birds please feel free to ask any questions,
I'll most certainly try to answer any particular questions and sure Sally will aswell and also possibly Cindy and a few others
Clubs and societies all need beginners, novices and juveniles as these are our future fanciers to keep the fancy going,
I was also at one of the main zebra finch shows of this weekend ( Kent zebra finch club ) which lucky for me is virtually on me door step,
Now I'm a member of the zebra finch forum uk and of all of the zebra finch fanciers around the uk only 2 yes only 2 forum members
Attended the show and one of em being meself
Luckily enough the majority of the clubs regular members attended and we put on a great show
