Birds in the UK - aviaries, breeders....how to find?

Post by Kiko » Sat Jan 31, 2009 5:59 pm

I am in Canada, and I am travelling to the Morecambe area in England, the first two weeks of May. I am visiting a friend, and we will be doing a lot of hiking, especially in the Lake District, but if I could find a close bird person it would be fun to visit.
I have been googling quite a bit, but cannot find any bird breeders, aviaries, shows or anything "birdy" in that area.

It would be so much fun to see some Uk birds, to visit a breeder, whether it is finches or not.

Anyone in the Uk have any links, names, etc?

Thanks!
Lynn

While in the Lake District have a look at Eskdale...no lakes but a wild part of the country..One or two good pubs in the valley too
This is the Roman Fort remains at the Hard Knot Pass...

Imagine how hard life must have been then!

In the next valley is Wastwater..one of my favourite lakes...and another good pub  That tiny figure on the rocks near the trees is my son many years back.

There's some wild country to hike in...enjoy your holiday...and have a drink for me

Thank you Poohbear, I've registered on that forum, just waiting permission to post.
I cannot wait to go, that whole area is so incredibly beautiful, it is going to be an amazing trip.
I will definitely raise a glass to you Poohbear!

Well, I registered and got a message saying my registration would need to be reviewed by admin before I could post. Next day my registration was completely gone.
Tried again and same thing happened. Don't know if it is a bug or they don't want me!

Ok, I'll wait a little longer, its been 3 days since the last time I tried.
I just found it confusing, because I could log on, but not post. But the next day, I cannot even log on, and it says my user name cannot be found.
Thats why I thought they had removed it altogether.

Have contacted Admin...they will see later when they come on line, most will be working...I'll get you on...it's a good site but has been plagued with porn and rubbish which is why they take time to suss out the genuine people.
Stick with it ...well worth the effort.
