Apollo

Post by Sheather » Tue Apr 04, 2017 1:48 pm

Apollo is a three year old society. He's very dear to me, because he is very friendly. He jumps on the front of the cage and nibbles at my nose through the bars and he will sit on my hand. He was not hand-fed, but he was handled as a baby. He started to get really friendly when he was about a year old.

Apollo is also special, as some may recall, because he is the world's first Homing Finch.
He escaped our aviary in the yard last year and flew at least two blocks away over a busy road, and away across the city, only to find his way home seven hours later and let himself into a cage I left in the yard for a bite to eat. He stayed in the open cage for several hours, I believe, while I was out, and waited patiently to go back in the aviary after his adventure.

Apollo is very beautiful. Glad he came back home to you and that you two have a special bond. Wish my societies or zebra's would come to me.
