Sadly, my two zebra finch hens have started fighting. They've bonded, built a nest together, they were brooding on the eggs taking turns, and after 2-3 weeks, yesterday, the white one took a bath. Her feathers were all fuzzy ad it looked like my other hen didn't recognise her, and started attacking poor thing. It went on for about 3 minutes, but when she was dry again they were together in the nest as usual. Then today, the white one, Swan started chasing the other. And they're on it since 5 am. I took their nest away now but I don't know what to do, or what caused this.
I don't keep them in a cage.

Re: Fighting Zebra hens
okay, looks like I could solve the problem. They were sitting on the eggs for over 2 weeks, so maybe that's one of the reasons why they've started showing territorial behaviour. I removed the nest and put up a new curtain , so they can't get to my window, where they were fighting. Now it's all good.
It was really strange to see them fight after preening , copulating, building nests, brooding together for months.
