lovezebs yeh well these are again off the guy from the aviary near me and he’s sent me a link about this pipe heater, I can put in my aviary.
it’s obviously looks like a pipe by the name but is an heater and it goes near the nests ,also it has an aviry setting so it doesn’t burn the finches.
hes got 5 Babies at the moment and adults but two are parents and the other two are starting to lay so he said I can have two chicks when they have done

Honey, Star Finches may not do well in an outdoor aviary. They tend to be senseitive to temperature changes.

Males have a colour mask that extends further back on their faces than females.

There is one that I found. It's older and blurry, but you can see the difference. Male on the right, female on the left.

If you do get them, they are really sweet little birds, although not so sure how well they will do with the Zebras.

What heater do u use or form of warmth

I don't actually use any heat in me birdroom because me room is brick built and is fully lined inside and out and because of this it maintains its own heat very well and is often at least several degrees warmer than outside temperatures during the winter, also there is absolutely zero cold air or drafts

I’m thinking about making a box around it with a few holes in so it still gives heat but more safer

If need be make up a small wooden frame around it and use some 1/2" X 1/2" avairy mesh over the framework

Okay I’ll see how time passes maybe I might have to invest in something better lovezebs

No need to Fraza, those oil filled green house heaters work perfectly fine, many people here in the uk use em for birdrooms aswell as other animal enclosures and of course green houses

Watch that you don't have the Zebras outnumber your other birds, or they will become big bullies.

lovezebs I’ve got 4 society’s and will have 6 zebs I have two society’s inside going back in when they have paired and I may be getting two society’s tommorow to have more society’s than zebs

And tbh elena coco is my biggest bully every time I put a new bird in he chases it until he jumps on top and flaps his wings then he hisses it away
then later on he’s fine with them thinks he likes to show his dominance as he’s the oldest definttly not scared of the zebs for sure anyway but I am going to get more society’s because he’s never been outnumbered
