This is bad news. I am so, so sorry. Such a beautiful little guy! My couples have a strong bond too. Very distressing. Hope you can find a new mate for Brat. Boys are prty good about lining up and letting us boss them around. I will keep my fingers crossed. Poor little girl!

I really and truly don't know what to say

It's a nasty shock when this happens and leaves a sort of emptiness,

I'm sure you'll probably find another gouldian to make up another pair once again in due time,

Sorry to hear this sad news. You feel the loss because you gave so much to a little bird. Ricco may not have lived long but he lived well.

You guys are all so sweet. Thankyou :YMHUG: Kyle, indeed. Their first year of breeding was a wild ride of ups and downs. *chuckle*

Fraser, you are right. Brat & Ricco were the comedy show of my gouldians. A highly unlikely pair, but somehow they made it work.

Stuart, I have a few people working on getting me a proper male over the next few weeks. Keep you fingers crossed for me.

Let's hope the new male can handle "Ms Cranky Pants" Brat. #-o

Any news on a new mate for Brat?
How is she holding up?

I have kept one of Jet's & Bubbles daughter's to pair off one day in the adult flight.

Brat is sleeping next to her for comfort. Hammy and Merlin right along with them.

At least she's stopped calling for him that went on for days. :(

Im working on getting a male hopefully from Madcat (shes out of town right now). And I have another breeder up north that wants to trade two javas for a male...but they are in mid molt.

So it will be a few weeks. I will probably get two males and let Brat choose her next victim. I do adore that bossy girl.

Well, at least she's not alone.

I hope you find her a nice male companion soon.
