Wild society finch or escaped

So on Christmas Eve I didn’t have a nice surprise in my garden but there was a dead white society finch in my garden and it was really sad, I wonder if it was wild or escaped

It wasn’t mine so it must have cane from somewhere I’m keeping a look out to see if maybe others with it end up coming to my aviary cos they can hear mine and I will catch Emma and try to find owners

That's so sad.

It could have been an escapee, or (regretably) a bird that was set loose on purpose, by someone who figured it could survive as a free bird (very very erroneous belief).

Maybe put out some seeds and water, to see if others will come by.

lovezebs hi I know some people aren’t stupid and I’ve put a big big Ed fan feeder out with millet and a water pot

wilkifam I was actually reading an article before and someone here in England has made his society’s wild in his garden they live in nests in his trees and rear Young’s and the young fly away

I heared on the radio, that there is some very cold weather coming your way Fraser. If I were you, I'd throw some heavy blamkets and tarps over your aviary.

Good thinking putting out some seeds and water out for whatever Socies or wildbirds that might come by. How do you keep the water from freezing btw?

lovezebs my water is inside seed feeders so it does sometimes freeze but it also still passes water through

And what temperatures are we talking
