Can't believe hes fledged already... mine aren't even motivated.
I think they still think they are a week old. George is 20 days old now, wooo.. I am scared for him!!! going to get food dishes on the floor of the cage

henrietta I know, I actually have been calling him Einstein! He still has the tufts today! he is flying around on his own and Lucy fed him in front of me while on the perch. He was SCREAMING at her! he couldn't see me, so cute!
@chirpy I have no idea why he fledged so early. But last night he got himself into the nest by himself. and tonight will be his/her first night without a nest. Kinda sad but can't keep the nest in there with Lucy laying eggs already! Naughty Lucy!

Do they fledge before they have all their face feathers and everything??? Today George was trying to fledge untiL Roseanne pushed him back in like "No not yet!"
and I saw that hes not fully feathered.. hes still a bare little guy in some spots!

Give her back her nest filled with fake eggs. Maybe she will stop laying...

I think Societies have some bare spot when they first fledge. I'm not sure if it's true though. I remember reading something like that some where, but I'm not sure where.

Ginene I finished cleaning the cages (ugghhh) and just put all the food in and Lucy was flying around like a maniac. I she was hovering like a hummingbird looking over to the Pieds nest. I felt so guilty
Then she flew up to the plants that surrounded the now gone nest, and landed and dropped an egg right in front of my eyes. it fell two stories down and cracked right in their breakfast....
Remember she did this after her last clutch? I am not going to put another nest because she is now feeding Woodstock out and about...
@Chirpy I have no idea about that either, Zebra's have full feathers.. Woody just fledged early, but seems to be ok. The Pied babies should be fledging any day now. they are huge and crammed in the nest, either 5 or 6 I thinks... can't tell yet.

She promptly ate it Ginene Shabby and Chic have not been in the nest once since I put the eggs in there. I added their old eggs this am... I am really annoyed
Lucy is an egg laying machine.

Me too Dante but I don't have much hope, she does this all the time.
I just want her to be happy. On a positive note, she is taking care of Woodstock now...

Ginene I agree, it is so adorable... You never answered me about perches.. I am curious what kind you suggest for the cage you sent me. What type do you love the most?
