Mice run right through the small chicken mesh also through the wired mesh that I have in my aviary. Although you do now get small square mesh in South Africa that the mice can't get through. Mice come into aviaries during the day as well. Luckily the cage is not on ground level. I don't think that mice would attempt to get into that cage. If Chirp gets a mice problem, then he can make the legs of the aviary higher.

That should help a lot. I'd still be careful in the daytime with other animals that will be attracted to the cage, like cats, racoons, mice, rats, etc. who can climb mesh. As@MariusStegmann mentioned, you can make the legs higher up so they can't jump onto the mesh during the day time.

The carpet makes me nervous, so be careful with that.
But hopefully they won't spend any real time on the floor!
