I agree with Jen! It looks like such a beautiful set up. :D I really love that you can use so many natural plants...wish I could do the same with my set up.

slwatson thank you. Yes I am fortunate that the climate here is mild (even though I complain about it being overly damp in my particular area) it is still very bird friendly and we can fortunately keep our birds outdoors year round.
The plants in there are mostly used for nesting, the weavers and finches use the grasses for nest building. They trim pieces off to weave into their nests even though I have plenty dry grass, cotton, coco fibre etc on hand. I love that they still revert to being just birds doing their natural bird thing.
A few larger shrubs they use to shelter in, nest in (mostly weavers), for privacy, and the pollen they eat like mad when it blooms. The fruit is edible too, but the poor bush never gets a chance to make any. They devour all the pollen first.

I'm very grateful that I can have the aviary I do.
