cjkrit Christo, he is very pretty. You must definitely see if you can breed more of those.

I used a different camera, the bird still looks green, but better photos. I have moved one aviary today, as soon as I have moved the 2nd aviary, that this bird is in, I will remove the green roofsheets.

The dark orange spot on your male's chest, Is approximately the colour of my boys whole chest.
I wonder if these two different species, are inter breeding (?)

Re: New Goldenbreasted mutation
lovezebs They can definitely interbreed. Even Strawberries and GB's are closely enough related to interbreed and produce fertile young. Not that I would advocate doing it, but just saying. It is hard to go in the wilderness and say to different species, you stay this side of the line. For instance with the 2 species of Shaft-tails in Australia, there is a area where the 2 species overlap, and interbreeding occurs naturally.

Re: New Goldenbreasted mutation
If your bird is not exposed to D3 and on multivitamins/minerals I would suggest the use of a good supplement that is all inclusive like AviTech AviVita Gold. Build up it's nutrition, to me it looks melanistic. Sunshine would also help. Once molted and with good nutritional support most feather in with their normal coloring.

cindy My birds get plenty of sunlight. It is a question whether the condition was caused by the lack of sunlight. I only got this bird about a month ago. Time will tell.

lovezebs No change. You are quite an impatient girl. It will only happen when the bird molts, perhaps in a year's time.

Goldenbreasted mutation?
The GB's colour had improved a lot during the last 3 weeks. It was melanistic. It is amazing what a bit of sunlight can do.

Wow, what a difference! Yes, you just can't beat natural sunlight. I don't care how good the light bulbs are, or the vitamins are, natural sunlight is the best!

Quite an amazing and wonderful difference Marius.
I thought the guy you bought them from, said that he kept them in the sun (?)
Hope you didn't pay more for them than you would pay for the normal colours (?)

Re: New Goldenbreasted mutation
lovezebs You heard about curiosity that killed the cat? I wanted new blood and swapped one of my males for this black one. I was curious to see if it will go back to it's original colours.
