Bengalese are society finches. When my mother was breeding them that is what they were called and I still sometimes call them that, even though most USians don't necessarily recognize them by that name. I believe that is still the common usage in at least some parts of Europe. Apparently your part, for instance, LOL!

Turn towards home, and go there. Many overs, over woods and fields, streams and hills, many overs. Just turn towards home. How else would one go there? Perhaps it was a dream, and you have awakened from it. May the earth rise up beneath you, with home in your heart, and your person waiting.

Sojourner ahhh I see! Yes, they carry the white strain here, but I haven't seen any other colors

I love this thread!

I often wondered if Im a bit odd having dreams about my birds! I get panic attacks after a vision in a dream where I have left their boiled egg in the cage overnight, or left the brooder accidently on high. I think I've surely killed my birds. Woken up in a fright, ran downstairs to check. Only to find out everything was just fine.

Then I go back upstairs in the darkness and lay down like this for hours  blink  blink  blink  . Stuck with not being able to go back to sleep. :-L

I get anxiety dreams too, especially if Scrambles has health issues at the time.

Last night I dreamed my eggs had pipped, woke up all excited, but they hadn't. Lol.

Heta recently dreamed that she had to go back to highschool, but had to bring the birds with her, and she just took the cage and all, bath sloshing everywhere and wound up accidentally leaving them at a bus stop in winter.

Yep, in the few times I remember having "normal" dreams, I've dreamed quite a lot about animals. Just lately I had a dream that my birds layed more eggs, but woke up to find none. Most of my animal-related dreams have been about green anoles, since I kept them for quite a while. I think they are one of my favorite reptiles.

And then there are all my daydreams about getting a pigeon, or becoming a falconer, or befriending the crows in my neighborhood...

Crows and Magpies, are very easy to befriend, so you could easily make your daydream a reality.

Unfortunately all the crows in my neighborhood are rarely closer than 50 feet away, and tend to stay up in the trees. I have a platform feeder in my backyard, but they have only been around once and never actually ate anything.

Icearstorm that's weird! Crows are very smart, and if you prove yourself kind, they'll return the favor. Start luring them close to the feeder by letting them see you throw food toward them.

They'll fly away first, but just let them. They'll come back later to see what you have thrown, and once they realize it's food, they will remember you. Crows are nearly as smart as people!

Beware though, word of beak spreads fast, and they will bring a date next time around. You will wind up with hundreds of them.

I have only obsered five American crows and a couple of fish crows around me, so I'm not too concerned with getting overwhelmed with crows.
They certainly are smart; someone even made a vending machine for them. The crows would find loose change and exchange it for food:

Icearstorm I've read that, isn't it wonderful? Have you seen the one where they use the crosswalk lights to know when it was safe to get walnuts they had put there to be run over?

Yes! How about when they get rocks to pur in a narrow container of water to get the floating food up to them?
