I think all but 2 of my birds were given to me, or rescued from some rotten place. they are all happy now. it is like an airport on my lanai. :D . I am good with that. it makes you feel happy to bring them to a nice place / sanctuary for them. You did good!!! =D>

I have all sorts. 3 spice, 2 gouldians, 1 female red cheeked cordon bleu. 1 yellow rumped wax bill. 3 societies. about 15 zebs and counting... 3 green singers , 3 owl finces...and one canary.

Hey I can let you all know, they love Basil plants. Can't keep one on the lania. they strip it bare. they also eat my oregano. but , I read it is good for them. so I keep buying them for them to destroy! LOL... I am nuts.

Interesting to know about the basil and oregano... I'll have to try that.

Those are some very, very lucky little birds. This has been major rescue week for you. Any idea what your bird count is these days? :)

2 red-faced parrot finches
1 parrot finch hybrid
4 societies
7 gouldians
2 canaries
2 cocker spaniels

So you got them after all.
They look very nice and healthy, actually.
By the account of your negotiations, there can't be much profit made from a "zebra mill".
I also would have thought they were bought for the kids who quickly got bored of them.

Yes, I did finally get them, and all of them appear to be doing well after their midnight adventures.

Today they discovered my egg food, and having a bath. It was both funny and sad at the same time.

You are a saint! Bless you. Those are some lucky birds! You said they live in a big fancy house so they must have plenty of money. You know, I worked furniture retail for mny years. LOTS of people with a boat load of material possessions have NO money. I am talking minus money. You can't get them approved to finance anything! Bad debts a mile long. It is hard to believe. I was watching a vet show on TV the other day and this guy (big fancy house) couldn't evn be bothered to bring his dog in. The dog had an open tumor on his chest. The vet had to pick the dog up to treat him. I couldn't treat a plant like that!! Live simply and take care of all Gods creatures!

Far from saint, lol, just felt sorry for them.

These folk, just lazy and couldn't care less about the birds. It doesn't take money to change a piece of newspaper and throw the cage bottom in the tub and wash it along with their dishes, it takes 5 minutes.

They are so much more active now, especially after their midnight adventure  . At first they just sat on one perch, all in a row. Now they're all over the place, swinging, bathing, singing.....

Girlie, I'm seeing something not quite right with the kiddos. Their muscles must have atrophied being on that single perch in the cage.

Their leg stance is too wide. Have you thrown in some real thin branches along with the thick perches to give them some rigorous contrast to strengthen those legs?

Do you see it too?

They have some apple tree branches in there as well.

They do kinda look like they grew up on horse back don't they?

Now that you mention it, they do have a wide stance. How is it related to not flying? Standing too much? (trying to follow-forgive my lack of experience here)
