Another EGG! This one was not a Splat! It was a Splash!!! Right into the water dish. Now that takes some talent folks and good aim.
So that will be the first, the one and only, never heared of before in the whole world.... (drum roll!!!) " THE UNDERWATER ZEBRA" If it ever hatches.

Socies looked

again, then looked around at one another suspiciously as in, ok who peed on the 'thing'? The others weren't wet...

Your Micky is beautiful! She is almost the twin of my bird except mine has a little black just in front of her eyes and she also has a very red beak. See...if I had known what you just said about red vs. orange, I would have thought she was a male also. Go figure! When I got her she was very bedraggled. Too funny she's decided to lay eggs in the silk flowers. Guess she thinks they're well hidden there. I'm sure Teddy has a special gift for figuring these things out.

I would have given in and made them a little nest by now. Are the societies actually sitting on these for you?

I made my clueless societies a nest-ball of orchard grass today, and put it on the cluster-platform of twigs I had put in the corner of the cage for them to build on when they kept trying to build right next to it in a spot that just won't work.
So, today they had a nest-shaped ball of grass on the twig platform.
Which they immediately pulled apart strand by strand as they all, all five, tried to shove each piece up through the top of the cage at the spot that just won't work.
Some birds just won't learn. Beginning to expect that if I give them an actual wicker nest, they're going to pull that apart and drop it piece by piece from the top of the cage.
Maybe give your zebras a nest and put the favored silk flower inside it?

LOL Folks. Are we all forgetting, that these were supposed to be FOUR MALES????? There was a reason for that , my friends. I honestly do not want babies. There are more than enough unwanted Zebbies out there. People breed them and then don't know what to do with them all.
In fact, I have been playing around with the idea of getting Micky a sister bride and moving her in with the Socies or the rest of the crew.
As to your question, Colt, the Socies are not really interested in the eggs. I think I'll pull them and paint them for next Easter

oooo! Save all the unwanted eggs, blow them, paint them, then take a small branchy branch and make a miniature egg tree. Then you can get dollhouse-sized baskets, and wrap chocolate chips in tin foil like mini hershey's kisses to go underneath it. And then take it all with you for decoration when they haul you off to the funny farm....

OMG Woman! Haven't had a good laugh like that in a while. Thanks I needed that.
Ruth, you're a priceless Nut!
Don't know if you're old enough to remember a song called "They're coming to take me away haha!" Look it up, you'll get a chuckle....

Yes, I do.
I am old. Ancient. Antique. Arthritic. Antagonistic. Asymmetric (so always a little off-balance, off kilter. okay, weird.) Abnormal. Abrasive. Aberrant. Antisocial. Archaic. Atypical. Apathetic. Awake, but soon to be Asleep.
Guess I'm still getting straight A's after all.

Did I ever mention that I grew up in a town with the state funny farm in it? Many of the buildings are still standing, and there were tunnels connecting them, and people still say they're actively haunted by the spirits of former residents....

When I was a kid, the place was still in operation. Sometimes we'd need to use the road that passed around the edge of the facility to get to the other side of town (it saved quite a few miles), and my mother would have us make sure all the doors were locked as we did. Back then the standard of care was really low, pretty much just warehousing people and keeping them docile by drugging them heavily. As we drove through, you'd see lots of people just laying on the lawns outside the buildings, sleeping or just staring into space. Creepy indeed. The place was phased out in the '90s, and the town bought it in the early 2000's.
It was used in some creepy movie, and internet rumors abound about the hauntedness. The town has had constant problems keeping thrillseekers and tresspassers out of the parts that aren't renovated or knocked down yet. If you want to look it up, it was Fairfield Hills State Hospital (or something like that, the Fairfield Hills part is right) in Newtown, CT.

I think I'll pass on the mental hospital (my home is as close as one can get to, without actually being one

)
No EGG today. It would seem that my crazy zebbies have given up on the idea for now. Thank the Lord and pass on the eggs.
Had taken all Socies and put them in one flight with Luciano. So far so good. He's busy staring into his mirror and admiring himself.
Decided to do that 'cause Pauly (Socie loveable idiot that he is) decided that it seemed like a good idea to pick and poke at CT (Cut Throat Male). Somehow I thought that this might not be beneficial to little idiots' health in the long run.
