My fires are named Blaze and Glimmer. My gold-breasted waxbills have similar names because they glow :-)

Funny you should mention the flintstones Brian. My uncle lived with us when I was just 2 years old, the flintstones came out then, and my nickname was Wilma......

I think i will use them to name my two new owls (don't know if they are a boy and a girl yet, but it work for me anyway)

Thanks

OK, have two sets of names for the owls and the fire finches, now just need two more, These will be for two pair of Shaft Tails, one normal pair and one fawn pair.

My cutest (and favorite) is Molly Sue:

I was trying to photograph Squeepers, whom you can see in the background, but Molly Sue kept landing right there because he loved the camera shutter sound on my iPhone. The autofocus did its thing and I captured this lovely photo by total accident!

Love the pictures. What species was your pretty Violet? Had to chuckle over the peekaboo picture. When I first kooked at it, I thought the birdie's bum was it's face, and I thought it was some sort of a wierd crested mutation .LOL!!! Your Gouldian boy is beautiful.

Hi Bri.
I am sure of three, but when I take pictures they keep moving around, so somtimes I think there is a number four, but not sure.
Yes, it is very exciting. They are starting to look like real birds now.

The bird in question is a female Violet-eared Waxbill. Very rare in aviculture so far as I understand. I don't think anyone in the US has them anymore that I've heard of. They are gorgeous. Very closely related to the Purple Grenadier.

I will take some new pictures in the morning to weed through to add to this thread. ;)
