Re: Fluffy's finches
Hey! I haven't written for some weeks now and I desided to write a bit now. First I though to wait until I know is my young society male or female. I still don't know that. But my cherry finshed hatched three babybirds yesterday, so I desided to tell u this.
My "lonely" female society had to live with my budgies some time and I was clad budgies were accepting her:

And there they are all together:

Re: Fluffy's finches
Well, I can say that I almost hate my finches. Why do they do this to me (and their babies)?! Again - three chicks are dead.
One is still alive, thanks to me. I'm trying to hand-feed it but I really don't know anything about this and I think I can't help this little chick. I'm feeding it with boiled egg and warming it with a lamp, but I don't know does it help. I don't know what to do when I can keep it alive all weekend, because I'm going to the school on Monday... :/
But here's a picture. I love these cute little legs. Just adorable!

I'm so sorry...its so sad when they abandon the babies. Mother Nature can be so cruel...Maybe you should remove your nests for a while. Just enjoy your finches without breeding. I did this for 6 months and didn't miss the stress of breeding at all.

I've used nests for sleeeping. First I didn't know they're gonna lay eggs.

Re: Fluffy's finches
Put that chick in your Society finches nest to see if they feed & sit on him to provide warmth.

Re: Fluffy's finches
Male bird tried to mate with my young society, so I'm pretty sure it's female. What should I do? My birds (both societies and cherries) are just mating. Is this normal? Anyway, I took one picture yesterday night. That darkest is the youngest. Male bird was in the nest.

Re: Fluffy's finches
I would remove the nest...they don't need it for sleeping and it will only encourage mating behavior. You can also remove any eggs that are laid in food cups before the hen has a chance to incubate them. This will prevent any new babies.
