Looks like they are both boys now that I see their behavior. sorry if my terminology is off...One is a normal dilute and the other has a red head white breast and yellow back.

The yellow one has some greenish spots on its back, looking similar to a light variegation. Do you think this means he is still young and hasn't completely molted or do you think this means he may be split to green?

They will be added to my bachelor pad once they check out health-wise.

Their song is like a squeaky wheel, it's very funny. They are quite brave and recovered from the car ride quickly.

I don't know nuthin' about the yellow mutation, but I suspect he has not finished molting into is grownup feathers. That's my $0.02

Dilutes are always males. Yellows may have "spots", so he could be fully-molted and still have a spot or two of darker feathers.

It was the yellow that looked like he may be a lady. I guess I just have a knack for picking up boys!

Won't my husband be jealous...

--------------

They are doing well...though I think they are even messier than my canary!

I just find it hilarious when they try and out-sing the canary too...with their squeaky voices. But they do give it their all.

 Congrats! I also just bought a couple of finches and am enjoying them even more than I thought I would... I bought my two from a breeder, so I know I have two males - but am planning on adding two females to the mix as soon as they are available.
